5 Reasons to get a lash lift
Eyelashes invite the world to look into your eyes and see your sparkle. That’s why having healthy, full and natural-looking lashes is so important to so many people. Many people struggle to create the illusion of fuller lashes using mascara, curlers, plumping serums and fake lashes. However, these are all temporary solutions that require daily application and upkeep. Take a look at the reasons why you should get a lash lift.
Do you hate the struggle to maintain great lashes? Anyone who has ever gotten their lashes trapped in a lash curler or dealt with the sticky residue left behind by false lashes understands why finding a long-lasting, natural-feeling solution is so important. That’s why more and more people are deciding to get a keratin lash lift.
A keratin lash lift offers one of the easiest ways to enjoy beautiful, fuller lashes. It works by opening the lashes upward and outward. This helps to create lashes that frame the eye in a way that creates a fresh, wide-eyed look. People who have a lift done enjoy the benefits of suddenly having a more youthful expression. A lash lift is a great way to make your eyes appear refreshed and more alert without injections or other procedures. In addition, you are left with thick, strong and velvety lashes.
3. Beautiful Lashes
Lashes look fuller, healthier and more vibrant following a lash lift. The shape of the lashes really comes into bloom to create an open, wide look around the eyes. In addition, lash fibers are repaired to restore the look of lashes and make them softer.
4. Long Lasting
The look created by mascara and a curling wand will last for a full day if you’re lucky. Fake eyelashes might stay on for a full night if you use very strong glue. Keratin lash lift treatments last for between six and eight weeks. That means waking up every morning for close to two months with thick, beautiful lashes that are ready to go out the door.
5. Organic Lash Botox
It’s only natural to be careful about anything that you put near your eyes. The real beauty of a keratin lash lift is that it enhances your lashes using ingredients that are more than 97 percent natural. The formula acts to moisturize and rejuvenate lashes using silk proteins, organic jojoba oil, camellia seed oil and nigella seed oil.
Lash Lift FAQs
1) Can I wear mascara after getting a lash lift?
You can wear mascara and any make up 24 hours after getting a lash lift. By then, your lash lift shape is no longer malleable and will stay curled through water and heat.
2) Can I get my lashes wet?
For the first 24 hours, use cold water to clean the eye area. After that, you can take hot showers, go to the sauna, and your lashes will be fine!
3) Will a lash lift damage my lashes?
There are 2 ways to curl your lashes: physically and chemically. The physical approach is when you use a lash curler or heat to break the weak chemical bonds that make up the protein chains in your lashes. Physically curled lashes relax throughout the day and only last until your lashes get wet or come in contact with heat. Also, curling your lashes everyday with a lash curler can break the outer protective sheath of the lashes and make them prone to breakage and look thinner.
The chemical approach, such as a lash lift, alters the stronger chemical bonds (disulphide bonds) that make up your lashes and creates a permanent curl until the lashes fall off naturally. During a lash lift, a perm cream is used to break the disulfide bonds and allow keratin molecules to move freely and adjust to their new shape. Then a neutralizing cream is added to reverse the effect of the perm cream. New disulfide bonds form and the keratin molecules are locked into place with a new curled shape. The curl lasts for 6-8 weeks and this process is a healthier alternative for your lashes compared to clamping your lashes everyday with a lash curler.
To maintain healthy lashes after a lash lift, apply a lash serum and coat the tips of your lashes with a small amount of castor oil everyday. At Lash Cottage, we provide you with a vial of castor oil at every lash lift appointment.
3) How long does a lash lift last?
A lash lift creates permanently curled lashes, but the results last 6-8 weeks. Why? In about 8 weeks, your curled adult lashes will grow old and fall out. New baby lashes will peak through and return back to your natural state.
4) How do I take care of my lashes?
It’s easy! Clean your lashes as usual and condition them daily with the castor oil vial that is provided for you. We recommend applying a small amount to the tips of your lashes once a day before you go to bed. This helps keep the lashes hydrated and smooth, so it will grow out nicely. Apply a lash serum along your lash line for longer and thicker lashes.
5) How often can I get my lashes re-lifted?
Most of our clients get their lashes re-lifted every 6-8 weeks. If your hair and nails grow fast, you may want a lash lift closer to the 6 week mark. Also, some months you may experience a shorter lash cycle due to pregnancy, postpartum hair loss, health conditions, menstrual cycle or fall/ spring hair sheds. In these cases, you can get your lashes re-lifted before 6 weeks.
6) My lash lift looked great the first few weeks, but now it’s starting to look twisted and uneven.
As new lashes grow out of your eyelid, the curled parts of your lash lift get pushed out further. It’s the same concept as when you apply nail polish and watch it grow out in a few weeks. The exact same process happens with your lashes. Your lashes are constantly growing and shedding. Be sure to brush your lashes with a lash brush and use castor oil on your lashes everyday (it really works!). Use a lash serum to extend your lash cycle and schedule a lash lift every 6-8 weeks.
7) I’ve had a bad lash lift from another place, can you fix it?
If you had a bad lash lift recently, it is best to reach out to the lash studio that gave you the service. This is because they're familiar with the products and techniques they used on you and should know how to reverse or fix your lash lift. If you want to try a new place for a lash lift, it's recommended to wait 6 - 8 weeks after getting
your lash lift so your lashes can rest and grow out.
